Banks in Paraguay for foreigners: a practical list (2026)

After the residency, one of the first questions our clients ask is where to open a bank account. This is the list foreigners living in Paraguay share among themselves, plus our own recommendation.
Our recommendation: ueno
We usually recommend ueno. Many processes can be done online and its app works very well. ueno is also running a pilot with cryptocurrencies. In the end, the right bank depends on what you need, and the choice is always yours.
Banks foreigners use
- ueno
- Itaú
- Eko
- Familiar
- Banco Basa
- GNB
- Continental
- Atlas
- Sudameris
Each bank sets its own requirements, and they change often. Ask for the current list before you go. Having your Cédula, your RUC and a proof of address ready makes things easier.
Good banking apps
- ueno
- Eko
- Familiar
- Itaú
Sending money from abroad to Paraguay
- Remitly
- Paysend
- Meru
- Uglycash
- Binance
Compare the fee and the exchange rate before each transfer. An accountant's tip: keep the receipt of every transfer. It shows where your money comes from, to the bank and later for your permanent residency.
Proof of address
Vaquita is the community's favourite. It's a free digital account with a Mastercard card, backed by Finlatina S.A. de Finanzas. You sign up with your Cédula from the app, even from abroad. The big advantage foreigners mention: the account statement shows your Paraguayan address. Familiar and Itaú statements also work.
